Can we have exclusive use of the venue?

Yes - We only hold one wedding per day. However prior to your wedding guests arriving for a ceremony we may welcome prospective clients for show rounds or booked couples for a revisit sometimes with suppliers. All meetings are scheduled.

Is there additional accommodation nearby?

Yes, there is additional private B&B accommodation in the Village of Grittleton - just a couple of mins from the venue.

Do you charge corkage if we supply our own wine?

We offer a wide variety of drinks options and have amazing suppliers, if you are looking for something special we will do our very best to source it for you. We do not offer corkage.

What time does the reception need to finish?

We like to party, contact us for further details

Can we use our own caterers?

Unfortunately not. We have amazing Michelin trained chefs who are happy to tweak our menus or create a totally bespoke one for you

From what time can we get access to decorate the venue?

The Wedding party have access to the House from 9am on the day of the wedding, you can provide full set up instructions to our team, and they will have already set the rooms up for you. If we don’t have an event the previous day it may be possible to come in between noon & 4pm to add your finishing touches to the rooms. This is at the discretion of the management team.

Are there noise restrictions if we have a live band?

The acoustics are amazing in the House so it is always a pleasure to have live music, whether it be to accompany your wedding ceremony or for your wedding party.

Are fireworks allowed?

Due to the close proximity of the village, fireworks are only permitted if the wedding date is close to Bonfire weekend or New Year’s Eve. We hope you will understand that Chinese lanterns are not permitted under any circumstance, they present a hazard to the local farm livestock, and a fire hazard for the local environment.

Yes, both inside & out although it needs to be biodegradable please.

Yes, we love candles, as demonstrated by the number we have around the House. Common sense should be applied to candles i.e. they should be in suitable containers. Unfortunately lit candles cannot be placed on the floor, particularly down the aisle as they present a fire hazard.

We understand that your furry friend is important to you and where possible we will do our best to include them in your special day. Animals must not be left unattended and we ask that you make provision for them to be collected prior to the wedding breakfast. Animals are not permitted into the bedrooms, drawing room or dining rooms at any point during the day. Animals may not stay on-site overnight.

Do you have a minimum number of guests

Yes, we have minimum catering numbers of 80 adult day guests on a Friday & Saturday & 50 adult day guests for the rest of the week. These numbers may be lowered by prior agreement at off peak times and late availability, this is at the discretion of the management team.

Nestled in the picturesque Wiltshire, Grittleton House presents an exclusive and enchanting country setting for your dream wedding. The highlight of this stunning venue is the 17th-century orangery boasts high ceilings, large windows, and elegant décor. It accommodates up to 150 for banquets and 200 for memorable ceremonies. As you approach along the grand driveway, you'll be captivated by the charm and beauty of the house and its surroundings. Our gardens offering the perfect backdrop.

For weddings, there are multiple ceremony spaces to choose from, including the Red Galley, Yellow Gallery, or the Victorian Orangery, accommodating up to 200 seated guests. During the wedding breakfast, the Yellow and Red Galleries can seat a maximum of 126 guests each in a "Hogwarts" style setup, or up to 112 guests with round tables. You can also combine both galleries to accommodate a maximum of 250 seated guests. Alternatively, the Victorian Orangery offers a charming alfresco option for up to 200 guests, with views of the Italian Sunken Gardens. If desired, you can arrange a marquee through their preferred supplier in various locations within the estate. Accommodation options include 11 luxurious bedrooms within the main house and 20 ensuite bedrooms in the nearby Old Stables, exclusively for your use.

My visit to Grittleton House in Wiltshire was an absolute delight & the wow factor as you approach from the driveway. The historic manor house, which was previously used as a school is nestled amidst stunning parkland, exudes a timeless charm. Vanessa & her team gave us a guided tour, provided fascinating insights into the property's rich history & architectural details. The staff were incredibly friendly & knowledgeable, & canapes were delicious making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend choosing Grittleton House if you're looking for that English country house wedding venue. I felt from it's previous use as a school it has a touch of Hogwarts from Harry Potter, with the hallways, amazing staircases & beautifully decorated rooms. A must for anyone looking for that country house feel.
