Experienced, professionally-trained classical string quartet and string duo players for civil and church weddings, receptions and special events in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire and further afield. We create the aural atmosphere at venues big and small.
Welcome to the Cotswold Ensemble's String Quartets! We are a friendly group of professional, experienced, classically-trained musicians, established in 1988. We enjoy playing for special events and are based in the Cotswolds and around Oxford. We have been bringing live music to people's special occasions over many years, so we know from experience that having a live quartet makes all the difference to the ambience of a wedding and reception - we have been told this so many times! We have a wide range of repertoire and can arrange songs for your event. We play most often as a string quartet, (two violins, one viola, one cello) because this ensemble has by far the best quality and widest range of repertoire - from well before Bach to well beyond the Beatles. Our quartets are pleased to play the hymns at church weddings where there isn't an organist. If you are wanting a lively reception, book our acoustic Tango Quartet to play tangos and also regular string quartet repertoire. Our string duos (1 violin, 1 cello) are ideal for smaller-scale events or events where space is limited. For music from the Baroque and Classical eras only, ask about our flute/violin/cello trios. Our solo violinist & solo acoustic cellist mostly play for small-scale events. Music for weddings and receptions can vary widely, as can distances and available players, so there can be no standard prices!
